Extract Rare Earth Elements from Industry Waste

Moscow Steel & Alloys Institute by using 8-200m3 blast furnace and Russian Atomic Energy Corporation research team developed a way to extract rare earth elements from industry waste. Rare earth is widely used in lasers, computers, high-tech electronic products and other steel products made by sintering plant for blast furnace, and it is increased by 15% annually.

Russia produce phosphate fertilizer by using sulfuric acid to handle apatite, in the meanwhile, about 320 million tons of industrial waste was generated during the production. 80-98% of the industrial waste is used as the raw material for gypsum in architectural industry, and 800,000 tons is used as rare earth elements.

The first batch of rare earth elements is expected to launch in 2016.
